Tamales Elena Information

Tamales Elena is one of those hidden gems that you’ll be glad you stumbled upon. Nestled at Wilmington Ave & E 110th St in Los Angeles, this cozy spot has a reputation that precedes it, but it's the kind of place that feels like a secret shared between locals. If you're craving authentic tamales, you’ve found your place.

The menu here is straightforward but oh-so-satisfying. Of course, tamales are the star of the show, and whether you’re a fan of the classic chicken or adventurous enough to try the pork or even the sweet tamales, they’ve got it all. The masa is always perfectly moist and just the right amount of dense, while the fillings are flavorful and generously packed. Each bite feels like it was made with care, like someone’s abuela is in the kitchen crafting family recipes passed down for generations.

What really stands out, though, is the experience. The atmosphere is welcoming and casual, perfect for those quick lunch breaks or a laid-back dinner with friends. You can easily tell this is a place where people feel at home, with the staff greeting you like old friends. Service here is always friendly, and they’re quick to get your order ready, which is great when you're in the mood for something fast but high-quality.

While the tamales are the main attraction, the side dishes complement the meal beautifully. If you’re in the mood for something extra, try their salsas-each one packs a punch and elevates the flavors in a way that’s both bold and satisfying. The rice and beans are a classic pairing that never disappoints, adding that extra bit of comfort to your plate.

The location itself is a great spot if you're in the area, with plenty of parking and an easy-to-miss charm that makes it feel like a local institution. Don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you-inside, you'll find tamales made with love, served with a side of warmth that makes every visit worth it. Whether you're here for a quick bite or to take a box of tamales home for the family, Tamales Elena delivers a taste of tradition you won’t soon forget.

What People's Say About Place

For ME this was the best burrito (Rojo). Delicious consume. I loved everything about this burrito. I will definitely be back. I’m in LOVE with a burrito.

I do not have the authority to reward Elena a Michelin star but if I could I would. The flavors are robust and balanced. First time in the neighborhood but it won’t be my last. Tamales are great but don’t sleep on the tacos. The (orange?) sauce in the plastic bag hit all the right notes. They gave me too much sauce but that’s fine I’ll use it. Thanks Yo Yo for the recommendation.

I love the champurrado, it’s not expensive and it taste delish, make sure you ask for the 3$ cup its just 50 cents difference but it’s worth it! They also have the gallon jug for 25$ to take back home or to your coworkers. It has become a stop on the way to work!

I've been coming here for so many years now. The food is always great and delicious. Great service. Great, everything. I remember the mom and her daughters. When I was a baby girl always looking out for them. To see if there would be passing by the house because I wanted some tamales. And the drinks. The mom and her family of Elena, tamales have been knowing our family for a very long time. So many years and I'm still coming here and eating. My food is so great and delicious. Especially when they have their big orders for the holidays. I do highly recommend coming here and eating their food.

They make the best tamales hands down! Better get there early if you want some. Its a food truck in the middle of Watts so you might run into some weirdo, but it's worth the hike. They always park on Wilmington facing South. I've been buying their tamales for the last 20 years. When I have the craving they are my to go place.

This is a hidden gem and you wouldn't even think they sell anything other than Tamales but let me tell you... their tacos de barbacoa are amazing with the side of consomé. Their tamales are also great but have became smaller throughout the years but still pretty tasty. Their salsas are always on point the red one is my personal favorite don't say I didn't warn you because it's HOT but it's also tasty.

Hope and pray you have found blessings at your new location. I'm just watching mexi papa's youtube video and me not being a big tamale fan would love to try yours out!

my mom has been buying her tamales since back in the since 1998 when she was first pushing the Market Basket down our street 115 Street and Mona Boulevard in Watts California and still buying them I love them to death.
